12. Plagiarism

Plagiarism is act of copying the other's work and it is the "wrongful appropriation" and "stealing and publication" of another author's language, thoughts, ideas or expressions and the representation of them as one's original work. Plagiarism is using other's work , ideas and words without clearly acknowledging the source of information. So if you will copy the other's work you need to acknowledge them as your source don't copy the whole thing just use it as your guidelines.

ALL OF THE FOLLOWING ARE CONSIDERED PLAGIARISM:

  • turning in someone else's work as your own.
  • copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit.
  • failing to put a quotation in quotation marks
  • giving incorrect information about the source of a
    quoation
  • changing words but copying the sentence structure
of a source without giving credit
  • copying so many words or ideas from a source that it
make up the majority of your work, whether you give credit or not.
ABOUT IMAGES, VIDEOS AND MUSIC:

In using an image, video or music in a work you have produced without receiving proper permission or acknowledging the cite is also a plagiarism.

How can Students avoid the plagiarism?

To avoid plagiarism, you must give credit whenever you use:
  • another person's idea , opinion, theory and words.
  • any facts, statistics , graphs, drawings-any pieces of information- that are not common knowledge.
  • quotations of another person's actual spoken or written words.
  • paraphase of another person's spoken and written words
  • copying media (especially images)

6 WAYS TO AVOID PLAGIARISM:
  • Paraphrase- Make sure that you don't copy the whole thing from the text you found. Read it and put it into your own words. If you do use more than words , you will have to use quotation marks.
  • Cite- Citing is one of the most effective ways in preventing plagiarism. Follow the document formatting guidelines (APA format, MLA format etc.) used by your educational institution or the institution that issued the research request. Not citing properly can cause plagiarism
  • Quoting- This process takes time but your efforts will pay off. When quoting a source, use the quote exactly the way it appears. Quoting must be used properly to avoid plagiarism.
  • Citing Quotes- Citing a quote is different from citing paraphrase material. This practice usually involves the addition of page number or a paragraph number in the case of web content etc.
  • Citing your own material- If some material you are using for your research paper was used by you in your current class, a previous one or anywhere else you must cite yourself.
  • Referencing- One the most important ways to prevent the plagiarism is including a reference page of works cited at the end of your research paper. This information must be very specific and includes the author(s), date of publication, title and source. Follow the directions of the age properly.
We can avoid the plagiarism by simply acknowledging that certain thing that you borrowed and providing your audience with the correct information necessary and easily to find that source is usually enough to prevent the plagiarism.

11. Media Literacy

Media Literacy is seen to consist of a series of communication competencies, including the ability to
ACCESS, ANALYZE, EVALUATE and COMMUNICATE information in a variety of forms, including print and non-print messages.

Media refers to all technologies or digital means and artistic visuals used to transmit messages.
Literacy is the ability to encode and decode symbols and to synthesize, analyze messages.
Media Literacy is the ability to encode and decode the symbols transmitted via media and the ability to synthesize, analyze and produced messages.

Media Literacy represents a necessary, inevitable and realistic response to the complex, ever-changing environment and communication that surround us.
Nowadays most of the people are lack of education means lack of awareness and that lack of awareness is often perpetuated by the media.

Media Literacy and Media Education are used synonymously in most English-Speaking nations.
Media Education is the process of teaching and learning about media. It's about developing the public's critical and creative abilities when it comes to media. Education for media literacy often uses an inquiry based model that encourages people to ask questions about what they hear, watch and read. In our new generation Media Education or Media Literacy is very important for us to know about this thing.

Last Wednesday, November 28, 2015 in Auditorium, we attended a seminar about Media Literacy the Title was Mobilizing the Millenials as Socially Responsible Prosumers. The seminar was good because it gives us information about media, technology, social media and etc.

There are 3 speakers who is from GMA network
These three speakers are very young but they already working in one of the public affairs in the Philippines which is the State of the Nation of Jessica Soho.

This three lovely ladies taught us different things that we can apply or we can use in our daily lives. The first speaker taught us how to make a good report and what are the things you should know that you should do in doing a report so that you can make a good report. One of the most important thing that I've learned from her is the So what ? question in making a report. Only few people know about the so what question so that other people don't care to their  report. Everyone can make a new report but the question of everyone is SO WHAT ? why do we need care ? why do we need to pay attention to your report ? and How it is important this is the things that we also must considered to make a report so that we can make a great report to get the attention of everybody.

However, the second speaker taught us different things or information about social media. We all know that most of the people are now addicted to social media but some of us don't use the social media properly so that they get in trouble.
She taught us that in social media you can also get some information or news it's not only about the trending topics in showbiz like ALDUB but it also about the trending news in our country. Social media helps everyone to know what's going on in our country so she said that sometimes they used social media to tell their report or to tell some news that we need to pay attention.

Monday jolts and she bogs down, a ragbag
Splayed of at tangents, Windows
To the outside and fleck of faces
Spring the morning clear at her
To set her into her own dimensions.
Piece by piece she puts on eight o' clock;
Pillow and bed covers in a tumble pat
Her in place. The clearest cut glass
Of grapefruit juice teetering on a silver
Tray for breakfast-in-bed exigencies
(Both for effect and effectivity)
Is for a fact but fictive in the mind
Which holds the fleeing amount longer.
Stalls the stupor of the previous spree,
Images of her beautiful in blank spaces
Wandering truant like in private regions
Of the night, wisps of clouds jammed
In one wicked corner of sleep. She hoards
Them like a child at play, triumphantly
Pieces them into a single total perspective:
Splayed off tatters of Sunday, a dark
Undiscipline of clouds settled right
Into the teeth of every day people
And cluttering sounds of slap dish.

She exudes it now becomingly
As she glides and putters about
By turns, spreads it as a scent
Ambiguously enwombing her, her from
Dissolved in semi-tones, nameless jewel
Durably ensphered in mist, constantly reborn
Solid, whole in ever renewing shades.

8. SOM week

SOM week
School of Business and Accountancy (SOAB) transforms to School of Management (SOM) but in my opinion SOAB is sounds good or better than SOM.Last week of October is the SOM week were all the Accountancy, Tourism, Business Management, Marketing and Advertising students are included in this SOM week because this celebration is for them to make them happy and to give them a break before the upcoming midterms.
The first day of SOM week was quite fun were the some students parade around the Magallanes Village and back to APC. Then School of Accountancy and Business (SOAB) was officially transform and introduced to the students as a School of Management (SOM) but for me SOAB is better than SOM , I don't know why they change the name. After that APC Dance Company and the champion of Cheer and Chants competition which is the Marketing and Advertising students give a production number. There are lot of activities like Men's basketball, TM-ystery, SOM Frosh night, and the Mr. and Ms. SOM 2015. In addition there are also a lot of seminars that held in Multipurpose Hall 1 of Asia Pacific College.

Among those activites, the event that I like most is the Mr. and Ms. SOM 2015 maybe because two of those candidates are my block mates. Our block was there and full force to support our block mates that represents our block and also the accountancy. I and my block mates do some gimmicks just to show our support to them. We want to show them we are here to support them, win or lose we are still proud of them. All we did was worth it because one of one of my block mates, Latrell Georelle G. Sombilon garnered three awards. Best in Casual Wear, People's Choice Award and he won 2nd Runner-up. Not bad for a first timer, the most important is they give their best. However, Steven Severo which is also one of the candidate and my block mate didn't won we are still proud of him because he give his best in that competition.

7. " Be Smart, Don't Start "

Smoking refers to the inhalation and exhalation of furnes from burning tobacco in cigarettes and pipes.Smoking is a hard habit to break because tobacco contains nicotine, which is highly addictive. Some people start smoking for a different reasons. Some of them think that this is cool while others start smoking because of the influence of their family members and friends. Once you start smoking, it's hard to stop. The facts about smoking are that this is very dangerous and harmful for our health. There are many effects of smoking especially to our health.

One of the big problems in our society is smoking and this is also one of the big social issue of our world. Wherever you go, you can always see people who smoke and some of them are teenagers. Nowadays most of the smokers are teenagers; I think these teenagers are lack of discipline and guidance from their parents. Teenagers nowadays are go with the flow, they do what they want to do even though it's wrong, and they don't care what will be the result in the end so that in the end they
regret many things.

We know that once you start smoking, it's hard to stop it but to those smokers especially to the teenagers as soon as possible you need to stop smoking before there something will happen to your health.Smoking is not the way for us to be cool or to be popular to the others because there's other way to be cool. In addition, some people smoke because of depression or problems but that's not a valid reason because there's some good solution for this. Smoking don't make us happy but make our life miserable.

Let's support the different anti-smoking campaign of our government, let's help our government to spread the anti-smoking campaign.

I also believe that when two people are meant for each other, no time is too long, no distance is too far, and nobody can keep them apart. Lastly Destiny decides who you meet in life but it's only your heart that can decide who gets to stay in you life.

October 11, 2015 at Asia Pacific College, MPH1,1:00 pm. Our professor required us to watch a play entitled "Ang Tatay Mong Kalbo" performed by Teatrè Phileo.

This play is written by Isagani R. Cruz.Teatrè Phileo performed the “Ang Tatay Mong Kalbo” at Multipurpose Hall of Asia Pacific College. This is written by Isagani Cruz. Before the play start, one of the writers of this play said that this is a nonsense play but she hope that we can get some lessons or information from this play. The play might be confusing but it was fun.

The first was kinda catchy it's just like you must pay attention to the play for you to understand. As the show goes on from serious it becomes funny and I enjoyed it. The stars in this play portrayed their characters well. Their performed well they make audience laugh.

3. Heneral Luna

Antonio Luna de San Pedro y Novicio Ancheta also known as "Heneral Artikulo Uno" or "The Fiery General" was born on 29th of October 1866, he is an Ilocano born in Manila. He was the youngest of seven children of Joaquin Luna de San Pedro, from Badoc, Ilocos Norte and Spanish Mestiza Laureana Novicio Ancheta , from Luna, La Union (formerly Namacpacan). He was the founder of the Philppine's First Military Academy, which existed during the First Philippine Republic. He was regarded as the most brilliant of the Filipino Military officer during the war.

I already have an idea about Heneral Luna because when I was in elementary and high school, my teacher told me some details about him like he was a Filipino General who fought in the Philippine-American War but when I watched the movie Heneral Luna, I learned so more facts and information about him and during that time I was impressed with his bravery and intelligence. I can say that he is a truly brilliant general.

Heneral Luna is directed by Jerold Tarog and starring John Arcilla who performed well as a Heneral Luna. I can say that he is a good actor and I was impressed with his performance in the movie. This Historical Movie is one of my favorite Historical Film because it gives us more facts and information about Heneral Luna and about his experiences during the Philippine-American War. It also showed how Heneral Luna fought for our country and what sacrifices he did for our country. This movie is not all about Heneral Luna but it also talks about what happen in that war. Another, it is also showed Luna's battles not only on the field but also against the Filipinos who betrayed him. In addition the sad thing to know is that the person who destroys you is your fellow Filipinos. Right now there are still people who really want to pull down their fellow Filipinos just to be a successful. This movie is a big help for us to understand and to realize that we must help each other, don't just only think of yourself but think about your fellow Filipinos.

Henereal Luna is a 2015 Filipino historical biopic film depicting General Antonio Luna's leadership of the Philppine Revolutionary Army during the Philppine American War.
